Privacy policy
Last updated: 15 June 2026 · closed beta
Unfurl turns videos into guides you can actually act on. We take your privacy seriously, collect as little as we can, and explain the rest in plain language below. Unfurl is currently in closed beta, so we’ll keep this page up to date as the product grows.
The short version
- We collect only what we need to build your guides and run your account.
- We never sell your data or use it for advertising.
- We don’t keep your audio, and we never see your card details.
- You can delete your guides — or your whole account — at any time.
Information we collect
- Your account — your email and sign-in details, so you can log in and we can reach you about your account.
- What you ask us to work with — the video links or files you submit to create a guide.
- What we create for you — the transcripts, chapter outlines, guides, and action plans we generate from what you submit.
- How you use Unfurl — basic activity, like how much you’ve generated, so we can keep usage fair and bill you correctly.
- Payment details — handled by our payment provider, Stripe. We keep your customer reference and subscription status; we never store your card number.
How we use your information
We use your information only to run the service you’ve asked for:
- To create and deliver your guides, tutor, and action plans.
- To set up your account, sign you in, and provide support.
- To process payments and keep usage fair.
- To keep Unfurl secure, reliable, and a little better over time.
We do not sell your personal information, and we never use it for advertising.
What we don’t keep
- Your audio. We use a video’s audio only long enough to transcribe it, then delete it. We don’t hold on to it.
- Your card number. Our payment provider handles that — we never see it.
How your information is shared
We don’t sell your data. To run Unfurl, we rely on a small set of trusted service providers who each handle a specific job on our behalf — signing you in, processing payments, sending email, storing your guides securely, and the AI services that transcribe audio and generate text. Each one receives only what it needs to do its part, and handles your data under its own privacy and security commitments. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect Unfurl and the people who use it. Want the current list of these providers? Just email hello@unfurl.sh.
A note on AI
Building your guide means sending the content we need — such as a video’s transcript — to third-party AI services that transcribe audio and generate text. We share only what’s required to produce your guide, and we don’t use your content to advertise to you.
Where your information is stored
Your information is stored with established cloud and software providers based in the United States. If you use Unfurl from another country, your information may be processed in the US.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, or as long as we need it to provide the service. You can remove individual guides whenever you like, and closing your account removes your data from Unfurl — though some information may remain briefly in routine backups, or where we’re required to keep it.
Your rights and choices
You stay in control of your data:
- Delete a guide at any time — its transcript, chapters, and files come off our storage within minutes.
- Delete your account whenever you want; this removes your record and schedules removal of your stored guides. Email us if you’d like confirmation.
- Get a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights. Email hello@unfurl.sh and we’ll honor any that apply.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. During closed beta, there are no advertising or analytics cookies.
Children’s privacy
Unfurl is a general-audience service and isn’t directed at young children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children — if you believe a child has provided us information, email us and we’ll remove it.
Changes to this policy
As Unfurl grows, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If we make a significant change, we’ll do our best to let you know.
